Thoughts

Dear Daddy Dave, You were never just a stepdad to me, you were a Dad. You stepped up and took a family on when you met Mum. You shared your home, your life, and even your birthday with a little girl who was sick and scared and anxious. I cannot put into clear words how much your involvement in my life changed mine. You were my champion in all things. You parented me through the ups and downs of my teenage years and beyond. You supported me in all my academic pursuits. From hours sitting with me working on maths homework that made me cry, to proofreading every single essay I wrote at university, you were there encouraging me. You led me to discover so much, especially in the form of food! From weekends of bacon sandwiches, English breakfasts and roast dinners to curry nights and Chinese dinners! I am pretty sure my love of cookbooks comes directly from you! You helped me explore the world and expand my horizons with holidays to the Isle of Wight, to the Canary Islands, to Tunisia and even America. You gave me a love of folk music, The Beatles, and musicals. Days out in London seeing musicals will forever stay with me (especially seeing Buddy Holly repeatedly!) You were there for me throughout everything growing up and I will never be able to thank you enough for what you gave me. You were and always will be, my Daddy Dave. I love you. I miss you. None of us will be the same without you.
